Women love jewels, but primadonnas love them even more! The fairy-tale world of opera is not just about singing, performances, dreams and spotlights, but also about extravagance and wonderful jewels that superstars love to wear during their most important concerts, recitals, photos and public events.
A longstanding devotee of Bulgari, Carmen Giannattasio has worn the brand’s jewels from 2014 when she was the star of a gala concert at the Suntory Hall in Tokyo. For the occasion, the soprano chose three dresses exclusively made for her by Antonio Riva Atelier and pieces from Serpenti or Sapphire Flower collection. Since then she has been chosen as the only Bulgari ambassador in the world of classical music.
During an interview, the Italian soprano explained that fashion and jewellery are vital aspects of any operatic production. “As a performer, you are selling dreams, so you want to present yourself in the best way possible, and a little sparkle is part of that package,” she said.
In April 2016, Carmen Giannattasio performed at the reopening of the luxury jeweller’s flagship boutique in London with a live performance of Giacomo Puccini’s ‘O mio babbino caro’. The primadonna wore an original creation by Antonio Riva and Serpenti collection parure.
Next September, the soprano will be among the protagonists of “Bulgari. Tribute to Femininity”, a retrospective exhibition at Moscow Kremlin Museums: over four hundred unique pieces of high-end jewellery from the Bulgari Heritage Collection, as well as pieces from the private collections from around the globe.
In the photoshoot created for this truly unique exhibition, Carmen wore amazing jewels that have adorned the necklines of famous movie stars: pendant necklace and earrings in gold with diamonds worn by Sophia Loren in the iconic photo by Farabola in 1992.

And the necklace convertible tiara worn in 1959 by the famous actress Gina Lollobrigida in the film “The most beautiful woman in the world” where she acts as an opera singer known for her beauty. As always, all the fabulous gowns are original Antonio Riva creations, Gold Label.
