The Wiener-Ball season experienced its first glamorous highlight on January 19 evening. The Viennese Philharmonic enchanted the guests of their house with the 76th Ball “Past. Presence. Future”, a typical mix of noble tradition and lively life-joy. More than 100 dance couples opened the evening with the waltz “Die Schönbrunner” by Joseph Lanner, as well as the “Tik-Tak Polka” by Johann Straußensohn. The debutists again wore a hairpin in the shape of a violin key made of Swarovski crystals – this year in the shade “blue shadow”.
Traditionally, a lot of artists were at the Ball: the opera-superstars Placido Domingo, Anna Netrebko and Juan Diego Florez and the Croatian countertenor Max Emanuel Cenčić.
For this occasion, Anna Netrebko – without her husband Yusif Eyvazov but together with by a group of friends – chose a sparkling Zuhair Murad gown in aquamarine silk tulle and subtle sequin and crystal detailing. Her back covered by a fur stole in white fox by Helen Yarmak.
Julia Florez wore a large black layered skirt and a coordinated bodice; the strapless, sweetheart neckline suggests a note of romance while floral appliques accent the fitted bust with bursts of color.
