New York celebrated the world of opera on the evening of April 10th, 2016 with the 11th Annual Opera News Awards at the Grand Ballroom of the Plaza Hotel. A number of presenters – Ailyn Pérez, Mario Cantone, Lidia Bastianich, Frederica von Stade, Nina Stemme, Bartlett Sher – gave awards to many artists for their valuable contribution to the world of opera: the tenor Joseph Calleja, the Latvian mezzo-soprano Elīna Garanča, the Wagnerian Waltraud Meier, the Belgian bass-baritone José van Dam and the soprano superstar Anna Netrebko.
The ladies’ outfits were carefully put together, first of all those of Anna Netrebko and Elīna Garanča.
The Russian Diva wore an evening dress by Carmen Marc Valvo: in silk floral print, A-line silhouette and beaded halter neckline with keyhole center. The outfit was completed by a fabulous Chopard’s Green Carpet Collection earrings: 18-carat white fairmined gold, adorned with 72 marquise-cut diamonds in the form of delicate leaves.

The mezzo Elīna Garanča chose to wear Zarita red lace gown, a creation of Diane Von Furstenberg. The outfit was completed by white pearls necklace and earrings.
