April 17th was the day of Olga Peretyatko’s much-awaited debut at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York. The famous Russian soprano wowed American audiences with her performance of the elegant and refined Elvira, protagonist of “I Puritani” by Vincenzo Bellini (a masterpiece of Belcanto). Accompanied by conductor Michele Mariotti (who is her husband), Olga revived the fame that the same role in the same theatre gave to stars like Joan Sutherland and Edita Guberova. On April 27th, a gala dinner was held on the big stage at the Met to honour Howard Solomon and his wife Sarah Billinghurst Solomon. It was attended by many artists: Susan Graham, Lisette Oropesa, Luca Pisaroni (with his wife Catherine), Javier Camarena, Larry Brownlee, Michele Mariotti and Olga, who was in top shape.

L’acclamato soprano russo ha entusiasmato il pubblico americano proponendo una signorile e raffinata Elvira, protagonista de “I Puritani” ultima opera di V. Bellini e capolavoro del Belcanto. Accompagnata dal direttore d’orchestra e marito Michele Mariotti, Olga ha fatto rivivere sul palco del Met i successi che stelle come Joan Sutherland ed Edita Guberova hanno riscosso nello stesso teatro con la stessa opera. Alla sontuosa cena di gala del 27 aprile, organizzata sul grande palcoscenico del Met in onore di Howard Solomon e della moglie Sarah Billinghurst Solomon, sono intervenuti molti artisti: Susan Graham, Lisette Oropesa, Luca Pisaroni (con la moglie Catherine), Javier Camarena, Larry Brownlee e, ovviamente, Michele Mariotti assieme ad Olga la quale si è presentata in forma smagliante.
The soprano wore a dress by Marc Bouwer, a designer loved by many Hollywood stars: made of navy blue velvet, pleated on the bodice, it had cap sleeves and a loose skirt. The simplicity and elegance of the dress was embellished by a beautiful demi-parure of English manufacture, dated 1860, made of oval amethysts and diamonds. She completed the outfit with a double-face metal mesh clutch (silver on one side, bi-colour on the other) by Jessica McClintock. All eyes were on her!
Il soprano ha indossato un abito firmato dallo stilista di molte star di Hollywood, Marc Bouwer: in velluto leggero color blu navy, pieghettato sotto il seno, maniche ad aletta e gonna che scende morbida sul corpo. Pura semplicità ed eleganza che diventa preziosa grazie ad una bellissima demi-parure – di manifattura inglese e datata 1860 – in ametiste ovali contornate da diamanti. A completare il tutto una clutch rigida in maglia metallica, argentata da un lato e bicolore dall’altro, firmata Jessica Mc Clintock. E l’attenzione era tutta per lei!
