A medal of honor for Ermonela Jaho – Una medaglia d’onore per Ermonela Jaho

The early days of April were emotion-filled for the soprano Ermonela Jaho! She was back in Tirana, her native town, for two appreciated performances of ‘ Madama Butterfly ‘ at the Opera Theatre; furthermore, on April 5th she was awarded with a medal of honor by the Prime Minister Edi Rama. The ceremony was attended by political and cultural personalities, but also by many artists who wanted to honor the soprano, who has been called “the magical voice of Albania in the most important theatres in the world”!

Un inizio d’aprile pieno di emozioni per il soprano Ermonela Jaho! Tornata a Tirana, suo paese d’origine, per due applauditissime recite di “Madama Butterfly” al Teatro dell’Opera, il giorno 5 aprile il soprano è stata insignita di una medaglia d’onore dal Primo Ministro Edi Rama. Alla cerimonia erano presenti non solo personalità della politica e della cultura ma anche molti artisti che hanno voluto onorare quella che è stata definita “la magica voce d’Albania nei più prestigiosi palcoscenici del mondo”!

Very excited and beautiful, Ermonela wore an elegant dress, designed and created for her by the Albanian fashion designer Mirela Nurce. Black, tight, emphasizing the singer’s slender body, the dress was a tribute to the ‘xhubleta shqiptare’, the traditional Albanian female costume. The skirt – with the bell-shaped and wavy lower hem – was decorated with black embroidered stripes and finished with a white trim; the bodice, decorated by black tulle inserts on the back and sleeves, featured a boatneck and a deep backline. She also wore beautiful chandelier earrings by Tiffany & Co. from the “Jazz Age” collection: made of platinum and diamonds, they are reminiscent of the 1920s Art Deco style. The soprano’s make-up and hair were done by the Star Beauty Center in Tirana.

Emozionatissima e bellissima Ermonela che ha indossato un raffinato abito, ideato e realizzato appositamente per lei dalla stilista albanese Mirela Nurce. Nero, stretto in modo da adattarsi all’esile figura dell’artista, l’abito è un omaggio alla “xhubleta shqiptare” l’antico e tradizionale abito femminile di Albania. La gonna, con la parte inferiore ondulata a forma di campana, è decorata da sottili striscie nere ricamate e termina in una stretta striscia bianca; il corpetto, con inserti di tulle nero sulla schiena e sulle maniche, è completato da un collo a barchetta (dello stesso tessuto dell’abito) che si conclude a punta sul retro. Splendidi gli orecchini chandelier firmati Tiffany&co. collezione “Jazz Age”: in platino e diamanti, essi richiamano lo stile Art Decò degli anni ’20. Il trucco e l’acconciatura del soprano sono stati curati dal team Star Beauty Center di Tirana.
