After Dresden, Vienna. As it happens every year since 1877, the Wiener Staatsoper is turned into a huge ballroom to host the most important debutante ball of the Viennese carnival. The glamourous event took place on February 27th, attended by European high society, along with directors, actors, politicians and entrepreneurs. The young debutantes from all over the world wore classic white dresses and tiaras designed by the famous British jeweler Stephen Webster and made by the Austrian company Swarovski. Called “Fly By Night”, the tiara is inspired by nocturnal winged creatures found in the enchanted forests of fairy tales.

Giovedi 27 febbraio, non ha mancato la sua presenza a questo appuntamento glamour tutta la mondanità mitteleuropea assieme a registi, attori, politici ed imprenditori. Le giovani debuttanti provenienti da tutto il mondo, oltre al classico abito bianco, hanno indossato una tiara disegnata dal famoso gioielliere britannico Stephen Webster e realizzata dalla società austriaca Swarovski; chiamata ‘Fly By Night’, la tiara s’ispira alle creature alate notturne si trovano nelle foreste incantate delle favole.
This year, the music section of the event didn’t only include Viennese music but also opera pieces – the overture from “La gazza ladra” by G. Rossini, the cabaletta “Di tanti palpiti” from “Tancredi” by Rossini, the romanza “Depuis le jour” from “Louise” by G. Charpentiers, performed by the young artists Margarita Gritskova and Anita Harting. The Russian mezzo-soprano Margarita Gritskova wore an iridescent purplish blue column dress with a deep V-neckline, embellished with fine black lace. The dress was completed by long earrings in white gold and diamonds.
Quest’anno la parte artistica ha visto l’alternarsi non solo di balletti su musiche viennesi ma anche di brani d’opera come l’overture della “Gazza ladra” di G. Rossini, la cabaletta “Di tanti palpiti” tratta dal “Tancredi” di Rossini e la romanza “Depuis le jour” da “Louise” di G. Charpentiers, presentate dalle giovani artiste Margarita Gritskova e Anita Harting. La giovane mezzosoprano russa Margarita Gritskova ha indossato un abito dalla linea dritta, profonda scollatura a V contornata da un finissimo pizzo nero e in tessuto cangiante blu-viola. La mise era completata da lunghi orecchini in oro bianco e diamanti.
The young Romanian soprano Anita Harting wore an ivory dress, embroidered with silver thread in a fine texture; it had an off-shoulder neckline and a flared and gathered skirt. Signed Vivienne Westwood. The neckline was decorated by a very peculiar necklace in yellow gold and large white pearls, “Red Carpet” collection by Chopard.
La giovane soprano rumena Anita Harting, invece, indossava un abito dal tessuto color avorio ricamato con una finissima trama in filo argentato; ampia scollatura “off the shoulder” e gonna svasata e ripresa in più punti completavano l’abito firmato Vivienne Westwood. Il decolletè era evidenziato da un particolarissimo collier in oro giallo e grandi perle bianche: “Red Carpet” di Chopard.
