Great celebrations to honour Giuseppe Verdi were held at the Moscow Conservatory , where, on the evening of October 20th, the soprano Maria Guleghina was the star of a concert dedicated to the master of Busseto. The Russian diva – despite some health problems – did not want to miss the event and amazed her audience with two evening dresses designed especially for her by the great master of Russian fashion Slava Zaitsev . The first dress was made of black velvet; it featured tight bodice, full skirt ending in a small train, off-the-shoulder neckline and a matte silk sash at the waist. The puffed sleeves had embroidered cuffs.
Grandi festeggiamenti in onore di Giuseppe Verdi anche al Conservatorio di Mosca dove, la sera del 20 ottobre, il soprano Maria Guleghina è stata la protagonista di un concerto interamente dedicato al maestro di Busseto. La diva russa – pur con qualche problema di salute – non ha voluto mancare all’appuntamento ed ha stupito il suo pubblico con due abiti da sera creati appositamente per lei dal grande maestro della moda russa Slava Zaitsev. In velluto nero il primo abito, con stretto corpetto e ampia gonna terminante in un piccolo strascico; un’alta fascia in seta opaca segna il punto vita della cantante. Ancora, maniche a sbuffo con alti polsini ricamati e ampia scollatura “off the shoulder” che lascia scoperte le spalle.
The second dress was incredibly luxuriant: made of black silk, it was decorated by bands embroidered in gold floral motifs. The style was pretty similar to the first, with some differences: the waist was chinched by a black silk band; the long sleeves had a slightly loose line; the v-shaped neckline had a wide standing collar with lace trim. “The first dress is reminiscent of traditional Spanish costumes, while the second would be appreciated by Giuseppina Strepponi,” said the soprano. Both dresses were in true Zaitsev style, perfect for Guleghina, the tsarina of Russian opera.
Fastosissimo il secondo abito realizzato in seta nera con fasce ricamate a motivi floreali in oro. Se il modello è simile al primo, questo si diversifica per alcuni particolari: fascia in vita dello stesso tessuto dell’abito, maniche lunghe leggermente ampie solo sulla parte superiore ma, soprattutto, una scollatura a V che si apre in un maestoso collo “a ventaglio”, terminante nella stessa bordura in pizzo nero delle maniche. “Il primo abito ricorda lo stile spagnolo mentre il secondo, probabilmente, sarebbe piaciuto a Giuseppina Strepponi”, ha commentato la stessa cantante.
Tutto in perfetto stile Zaitsev, degno della “zarina” dell’opera russa quale è Maria Guleghina!
