On September 7th a successful event took place at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion, where the Opera of Chicago organized the annual concert “Stars of the Lyric Opera.” On the big stage some of the most loved singers who, along with Lyric Opera Orchestra, performed in excerpts from operas by Puccini, Verdi and Donizetti. The large crowd, who waited for hours at the Millennium Park, had the chance to see some opera divas – Ana Maria Martinez, Laura Wilde and Albina Shagimuratova. They all wore outfits with something in common – the colour red. The Puerto Rican Martinez wore a red silk taffeta strapless corset embellished with sequined floral decorations and a black silk taffeta mermaid-line skirt. The American Wilde wore an all-red dress, made of silk taffeta, with a 1950s-inspired corset and the waist chinched by a thin black bow belt. The third protagonist – the Russian soprano Albina Shagimuratova – wore a red dress which didn’t really suit her figure; it was characterized by a wide-cut and long skirt made of multi-layer light fabric, a silk bodice with asymmetrical details, oblique folds on the front and long veil sleeves. Too much red, no doubt about it!
Serata di successo quella del 7 settembre al Jay Pritzker Pavillon dove l’Opera di Chicago ha organizzato l’annuale concerto “Stars of the Lyric Opera”. Sul grande palco alcuni degli artisti più amati dal pubblico, assieme alla Lyric Opera Orchestra, si sono esibiti in brani tratti dalle opere di Puccini, Verdi e Donizetti. Per questo appuntamento con il foltissimo pubblico (che per ore ha atteso nel grande Millennium Park), le artiste hanno scelto abiti che avevano un comune denominatore: il colore rosso. La diva portoricana Ana Maria Martinez indossava un due pezzi: corsetto senza spalline in taffetà di seta rosso tempestato da paillettes che formano un decoro floreale e lunga gonna nera – sempre in taffetà – svasata “a sirena”. Una stola rossa, a richiamare il colore del corsetto, completava la mise. Completamente rosso, l’abito della giovane soprano americana Laura Wilde: in taffetà di seta, dalla linea a corsetto anni ’50 con una fine fascia nera, terminante in un fiocco, a segnare il punto vita. Anche la terza protagonista femminile, il soprano russo Albina Shagimuratova, ha indossato un abito rosso per la verità poco adatto alla sua figura: ampia e lunga gonna in tessuto leggero a più strati; corpetto in seta, giocato sulle asimmetrie della scollatura e della parte terminale,con pieghe oblique sul davanti e maniche lunghe appena velate (dello stesso tessuto della gonna).
Troppo rosso, non c’è che dire!
